The perfect parka

Olen viimeisen vuoden aikana varmaan tuplannut takkikokoelmani, viides ja viimeisin näistä takkiostoksistani on tässä. Aloin lämmetä rennoille parka-takeille huomatessani miten tyylikkäiltä ne näyttävät kerta toisensa jälkeen Wendyn päällä ja viime keväästä lähtien olenkin flirttaillut niiden kanssa kaupoissa, ainakin yhtä nahkahihaista yksilöä sovittaen. Parka ei kuitenkaan ole ollut minulle mikään "pakko saada" juttu.

Sitten Mangossa katseeni osui tähän parkaan ja olin heti myyty sen lukuisille yksityiskohdille. Ja koska se näytti päällä vähintään yhtä hyvältä kuin ensisilmäyksellä rekillä, niin ostin kaunokaisen. Melkein jopa luistin periaatteestaani nukkua yön yli, mutta maltoin kuitenkin mieleni seuraavaan päivään... Pidän tässä parkassa siitä, että vaikka se onkin parkamaisen rento, ei siitä silti tule fiilistä, että marjametsällehän tässä ollaan lähdössä. Juurikin nuo yksityiskohdat tekevät siitä viimeistellyn tyylikkään. Vyötäröltä löytyy kiristysnyöri, jolla takin ilmettä saa muutettua, kuin myös irrotettevalla hupulla. Ja olihan hieman pidempi ja umpinaisempi välikausitakki ihan tervetullut lisä nahkatakkieni rinnalle!

Tämä ostos myös muistutti taas niistä fyysisissä kaupoissa shoppailemisen hyvistä puolista. Vaikka netissä valikoimaa onkin enemmän ja sen kartoittaminen helpompaa, niin tuotteet vaan näkee niin eri tavalla luonnossa. Kaupassa näkee heti materiaalin, värin ja kaikki ne pienet nyanssit, jotka eivät näytön kautta välity. Olin kyllä Mangon sivuilla seikkaillut, mutten ollut kiinnittänyt siellä lainkaan huomiota tähän takkiin. Livenä se vaan kolahti heti eikä siihen tarvittu kuin yksi murto-osasekunnin silmäys, kun tiesin jo pitäväni siitä. Kaupassa what you see is what you get, tiedät mitä ostat eikä tarvitse jännittää vastaako ostos mielikuvaa.

Eilen puin uuden parkani kanssa saman asun mikä oli päällä sitä ensi kertaa sovittaessani. Huomasin silloin, että parka ja ylipolvensaappaat vaan toimii! Muutenkin viihdyin tässä asussa mainiosti; yksinkertaista, helppoa, sopivan näyttävää ja rennon tyylikästä, tuosta rimpsustahan voisi tulla vaikka tyylimantrani, heh.

I think I've just about doubled my coats & jackets collection in the past year! Here's the fifth and the latest of those coat purchases, the perfect parka. I first started to warm up to parkas when I noticed how stylish Wendy manages to make them look time after time and since last spring, I've been flirting with them on and off in stores, even tried on one of those leather-sleeved versions. But it wasn't a must-have item for me at any point.

Until my eyes met this parka at Mango and I was instantly sold, the edgy details were just pure perfection! And because it looked at least as good on me as it did on the rack, I went ahead and bought it. I even almost gave up my practise of sleeping on it, but did manage to get one night of sleep before making the decision... What I love about this parka, is that even though it's laid-back like a parka should be, it still doesn't look as if I'm about to head to the woods to do some berry picking. It's the details that make it look so finished and chic. It also has a drawstring waist as well as a detachable hood, which makes it more versatile. And with the bum-covering length and a high collar, it was a welcome addition to my spring wardrobe alongside all my biker jackets.

This purchase also reminded me about the pros of shopping in stores. Even though there's a bigger selection online and it's more convenient to browse, you just see the garments so differently live. In the store, you instantly see the material, the exact color and all those little nuances that you just can't tell through the screen. I'd been on the Mango website recently, but this coat hadn't caught my attention. But when I saw it live, I instantly loved it and it didn't take me more than a glance, the length of a fraction of a second, to be able to tell that. In store what you see is what you get. No need to worry about whether it's gonna look like in your visions.

Yesterday I paired my new parka with the same outfit that I was wearing when I first tried it on. Cause that's when I noticed that the parka and my over knee boots are like a match made in heaven! I felt so comfortable and so very me in this outfit; simple, easy, a little bit edgy and effortlessly chic. That could become my style mantra actually, haha!
